Some of our youth riders today at the Des Hanlon
On a fantastic sunny Sunday 10 Orwell Youths turned out in Carlow for the Des Hanlon Youth Races.
All finished very well high up the rankings, with bragging rights going to Annie Roche who finished 2nd in the U14 race and Caoimhe May finished 3rd in the U16 race.

In the under 12 TT
1st Oisin May
11th Luca Holmes
Under 14 TT
8th Ruairi Byrne
Under 16 TT

In the under 12 Road Race there was some great aggressive riding from Oisin who went on a solo break but got caught and finished 6th in the bunch sprint for the line. Oisin finished the races in 3rd overall and the best result of the day for Scott-Orwell Wheelers.
Luca finished 10th in the road race and moved up into 10th overall.
The Under 14 road race saw Ruairi finish 6th and move into 8th place overall.
Well done to everyone who took part and thanks to Stephen Ryan for sending in the results.

Jamie Busher was second overall.
I was 65th out of 265 strong field.
Jamie gave a post race interview to on-site reporters for Luke GJ Potter Magazine Weekend Edition.
A basic synopsis is that interview:
Jamie was in a group of six formed at the head of the race. One of the riders rolled off the front with 25-30km to go. The group let him hang in the headwind. They hoped that he would blow himself up. Spoiler Alert: He stayed away with an eight minute winning margin. Jamie got into a twos-up sprint, which he won. The third placed rider was an A2 rider.
