Orwell Cyclocross Championships January 2nd was created by Eugène SKIL
With the latest PunchesCross and the Orwell Hamper race on yesterday, the momentum is building up towards the next club event the Club Cyclocross Championships on January 2nd in Corkagh Park. Its Orwell Wheelers Club Members only race.

I was asking organiser Stephen O Shea about it last week and he said that the course will be made challenging and the exposed Corkagh park should not be underestimated by anyone! It should be a great event and a bit of craic just after New Years.

According to Stephen, MTB are allowed and encouraged for banter reasons. Handicaps will be given some of the groups. There is a 5€ entry club policy to cover medals and hire of park for those taking part in the races
Elite
Semi Elite (B)
Women
Junior
MTB
Vet

For anyone doing the MTB trip the following week in Rostervor this can act as a preparation for that too, as you can take part in the club CX race on a MTB. It could be a good place to work on the skills ahead of Ann Horans banter trip on January 9th.

Stephen would like to get an idea of numbers participating and of underage spectators so it would be greatly appreciated if you could fill in this poll:

*** Orwell Winter Hats ***

The hats will hopefully be arriving before the weekend and I'll be bringing them along. What better excuse to come along and see some cyclocross than needing to get your new Belgian hat!

Please remember to bring 20 euro in cash. No cash, no hat and no exceptions, sorry!

@Eugene: Could you please promote this on the relevant media channels.

Hey lads,
I missed this and have been fierce disappointed - it sounds like a cracking race. Well done to Stephen for coming up with this!

Gar and Valdis have told me that Eric Downey and Brianne are the CX Champs!! Well done and thanks to everyone for taking place. Great that the minimum of five women to make it a championship event was met.

Thanks to Ian Anderson who took these photos www.flickr.com/photos/sportslifephoto/sets/72157662939305821

while Damien Long took this pic of Stephen and all the racers

Once again thanks to Stephen for all his work to make this happen

Hi all
Some more photos of today's event (from an itty bitty lens, nothing compared to Ian's above!)

Some good shots there Kieran, there was a major lack of mud out there even after all the rain.
