Desperately sad news. Paddy was an innovator and a progressive influence in Irish cycling. He did so much to develop the sport at all levels in Ireland.

Paddy was a long time member of the Orwell and along with Noel O'Neill and Noel Hammond in the mid 70's they rebuilt the club and brought on dozens of new young riders including a young Stephen Roche. Paddy was National Coach for many years and was instrumental in the introduction of the Coach Education programme in Ireland. Sadly missed by us all.

Tributes have been pouring in for Paddy on the club Facebook and Twitter pages. He dedicated so much of his life to cycling - competing, coaching and developing the sport.
Paddy will also be very fondly remembered for all his work with women's cycling in Ireland. RIP Paddy - you will be missed!
