Sunday Morning Orange Spin, Joe Daly's, **09:00**

I'll be at Joe's at 8:30 am tomorrow Sunday. Planning on heading for Glemalure via Enniskerry, Powerscourt, Liam Horner, Sally, Roundwood, Laragh; then back via Roundwood, Joust, Enniskerry, home for 1:30.

Roughly 105km/1,750.

Hope to see a few of you along.

Per another topic in this forum, tomorrow we will combine with the orange/red spin, leaving Joe's at 9am.

Great orange/red spint this morning in sunny weather. The average speed was 31km/h so there is definitely room for a straight-up orange spin as well, averaging 24-26k, maybe a bit faster if flat. What I suggest is that anyone interested post here and we can see if there is enough interest to keep it going until Oct when the winter spins start.

That pace seems a bit too hot for me.

I'd be interested in going on a yellow/orange paced spin on Sunday morning, about 80-100k, mountainous or not. Forecast looks decent.

I think its useful to bear in mind that the front 2 at the head of a group out on a training spin or a leisure group riding against the wind or with the wind dictate the pace & those in behind use 25% less energy. If there's a large enough group that makes for less time at the front for everyone which is very useful for comfortable leisure spins for riders who fall between "speed" groups.

It won't always be you in front so pace shouldn't be taken literally as often it can be comfortably taken in a group. You'll average the pace yourself but you won't always feel like you're going that particular speed when sheltered from the wind. Some riders deny themselves a group that they're well able for because they don't think they can match these "speeds" but don't be daunted. It's a much tougher 120kms in a group of 4 riders than 14 riders no matter what the average speeds purport to be.

For the coming Sunday 7th Sept, we will meet at **09:00** at Joe's, same time as the Orange/Red group are convening. Then depending on numbers and inclination we will decide if we will run a separate Orange spin. As long as there is at least one person wanting to go Orange, then we will run the spin.

Great spin last weekend, we had 13 on the spin and covered a flat 100k around North Kildare. I won't be around on Sunday, but the spin will start at 9.00 from Joe's with the route to be decided on the morning.

Next Sunday morning there is the introduction to racing session at Corkagh Park. Some of the regular Orange spin participants will be at that session, so to see if there are still enough people wanting to do an Orange spin, please post here if you are interested. Ken's Orange/Red spin will be happening as usual in any case - 09:00 from Joe's.
