TT training routes or flat stretches of road was created by Dan Mulcahy
Hi all, Having been in lockdown from most of the time since arriving from Australia, i know little about the roads of Dublin area. I'm looking for some flattish un-interrupted roads to do TT bike efforts on preferably 20mins at least.
Hoping for some help or idea's. I know all about the climbs around the place but nothing flat.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Dan

The Blessington road from the top of the embankement to Blessington.
The N11 (BUSY ROAD!) From Kilmacanogue to Ahsford exit (its motorway after this)
The Trim road from Black Bull (just off the Navan Road) to Trim roundabout.
The old N1 from Swords to Balbriggan turn off.
Maynooth to Clane road.

Hi Dan, assuming you live southside, the N81 is probably your best bet, if you go up the Embankment to Brittas, there are flat roads that are great forTT training.
Alternatively west bound from the Phoenix park towards Maynooth, Clane or Trim has good flat roads.

Hi Dan
If you are prepared to travel then this may be of use. A few of the Orwell PBP crew used this stretch of road for full-on group ride training.
17kms on the Old Wicklow to Arklow road R772.
It's straight, flat, very little traffic and an excellent surface.

There is secure parking at The Beehive Pub
Cheers,
Leonard

The N81 Blessington/ Baltinglass Road from Brittas is the best and closest to South Dublin but after a few very close passes in commuter traffic I wouldn't use again outside of weekends or late evenings. Black Bull, Co Meath is about 20km from South Dublin and has an excellent stretch of road to Trim with roundabouts so you can make whatever loop you need, there is a pedestrian traffic light in Batterstown, but I haven't seen it red. Its also where a lot of the Club League TTs are held
