Cycling Ireland Awards 2019 - Thanks and Congratulations!

The nominations for the Cycling Ireland Awards 2019 have just been announced. Following on from our victory as The Club of the Year in 2018 we have 4 people nominated for awards in 3 categories this year!

Female Rider of the Year: Lara Gillespie
Male Rider of the Year: Paul Forristal
Coach of the Year: Dave McLoughlin & Stephen Ryan jointly nominated for their work with the youths and juniors.

Cycling Ireland has emailed all members a link for voting today. You will need your Cycling Ireland membership number to vote.

Please make the time to vote - it only takes a couple of minutes. It would be brilliant to see these club mates receiving the awards they absolutely deserve!

Hi all

Firstly huge thanks to all our members and friends who voted in the Cycling Ireland Awards.

We have been exceptionally lucky to have have had two of the best cyclists in the country as members of the club for the past number of years:

Congratulations to Lara Gillespie who took home the award for Female Rider of the Year. Lara also picked up a second award on the night too - a Special Achievement Award for her amazing results across multiple disciplines over the year - Cyclocross, Road & Track. Lara has recently moved to UCD to start her 3rd level studies and will be racing with them next year but she will always have a special place in our hearts and we will always claim her as family:)

Paul Forristal made the short list of 3 in the Male Rider of the Year Category but was pipped for the overall win by Conor Hennerbry. Paul will be moving to the Strata 3 - VeloRevolution Team to race next year and we wish him the best of luck for the season.

We are also exceptionally lucky to have an amazing bunch of volunteers in our club! Two who have given more than their fair share of time and effort over the years were nominated jointly in the Coach of the Year Award for their work with our Youths - Dave Mc and Stephen Ryan. Unfortunately the guys didn't win the award but they are top of the heap in our eyes:)

Finally, Ronan Grimes also picked up a Special Achievement Award last night for his fantastic results in the ParaCycling events over the year. With the Paralympics in Tokyo next year we will be keeping our fingers crossed for Ronan
