Active Holidays

I am researching and writing a magazine article on 'Active Holidays', predominantly focused on Ireland but looking for some ideas abroad too.

Do you plan your vacation time around being active? Do you book a holiday just because there's a half marathon or marathon on at the same time? Would you consider a destination if part of the hotel facilities included biking trails, 'greenway' tourism, hill walking etc? Are your bikes, wet suits or trainers the first thing you pack?

I'm particularly looking to hear about and feature destinations that sell or build in activities as part of their 'benefits' to staying. So a hotel that actively sells biking packages or has running trails advertised etc

Family destinations, couples and singles occupancy holidays all important. Would appreciate your comments and as many shares around as possible. Thanks, Killian
