Favourite coffee stops? was created by Louise Keane
It's that time of year when all is quiet on the racing and sportive front, so lets do something a little different!

What is your favourite coffee stop? Let's see if we can compile a list of Scott Orwell go to spots....

I'll get the ball rolling with a few of mine -

Straffan: Straffan Antiques at Barberstown Cross and now also Quirkes in the middle of the village.

Sallins: The Grange Cafe by the canal. Home made fresh baking including Gluten Free treats for me:)

Maynooth: The Mill Cafe. Very friendly, good food and free coffee refills (and treats!)

Kilcock: The Rhy River Cafe. By the bridge as you come in from Moyglare Rd side

Blessington: Rusborrough House.

Kilcullen: An Tearmann, bike parking at the back

Has to be Clodagh’s in Laragh! Thin bread, friendly service with a smile and luxurious loo! The soup is always really good though and it really warms you up.

If everyone in the club gave €20 we could sponsor an orwell loo for her . I am actually being serious here!

I absolutely love fishers of NTMK they are genuinely happy to see us and really look after us. Their cakes and bread are excellent and she gives us a discount.

The blue light in the summer is an excellent way to finish a spin for a refreshment with a view.

Some more for the list

Hollywood

The new cafe in Hollywood is a great addition. Bike parking around the back and they have tubes available on an honesty basis - if you take one bring one back on your next trip.

Ballymore Eustace

The Costcutter Shop in Ballymore Eustace has a lovely enclosed area at the side with wood burning stove, toilets and a place for bikes - pull back the gray curtain. It’s just a self service coffee and tea machine but a lovely warm spot in the winter. It’s a hidden spot in a village with no other option.

Clane

The Pot and Pantry in Clane is a good spot. It’s hidden at the back of the garage forecourt beside the Library. Be careful - don’t block the library door on Saturdays with bikes as it’s open and you wouldn’t notice it.

Ashford

Two great spots to stop

Café Latte at the roundabout in the middle of Ashford is a great little café and you can see the bikes outside.

Mount Usher also in Ashford is a regular Orwell stop – personally I prefer it in summer

Rathnew

The Apple Green garage in Rathnew is friendly and efficient place and a regular on the winter spins. A good turning point for yellow or orange groups taking the coast road to avoid frost on winter mornings.

A couple more which come to mind....

Greystones:
The Bakers Table, beside the church. This place makes everything in house. They have a lovely outside area at the back which is great to bring the bikes around to and is right beside the bakery so smells amazing!! Go through the big gate to the left of the cafe/closed shop and follow the path around the back.

Glencree
The Peace & Reconciliation center has a cafe with an amazing view from the outside deck on a sunny day

Naas
Swans on the Green. At the top of the town
VDA Coffee - has a club connection too!

Come on folks, there loads of other coffee shops! Share them with your club mates, does anyone know any good Northside ones?

The Tea Room in Malahide.

Located in Malahide Park beside the Cricket ground. Basic but intimate ( or otherwise cheap and cheerful)
Used by the Tuesday group.

Below is a list, In no particular order (but the Coffee Mill in Maynooth is my favourite).

We could always do a poll at the end of the Winter spins - for the best coffee stop.
The most popular coffee stop could win an Orwell branded track pump :)

list removed - something strange happening - will edit in again later

There is a fab new coffee shop in Blessington
Crafternoon Tea
It’s really lovely, fine china tea cups and saucers!
There are some crafts too in the corner for purchase
Very friendly service and lovely selection of cakes and scones.
Give it a go for a change. It’s on the right as you cycle into Blessington, it’s at the traffic light junction
Enjoy
