Our club mate and Cycling Ireland Board member, Gillian McDarby is taking part in a charity cycling event in aid of the Christina Noble Foundation. They are still looking for people to sign up and get involved to support a very good cause.
This is a 3 stage event which might appeal to individuals and groups within the club. See below for a description of what is involved. It would be great to see a few Orwell Jerseys at the Cyclathon at the top of Grafton St on the 12th of May!!

THE “DUBLIN TO VIETNAM” CYCLE
The Christina Noble Children’s Foundation (CNCF) is hosting a Cyclathon on Saturday May 12. The Cyclathon is Stage One of a bigger fundraising project namely The “Dublin to Vietnam” Cycle which is 6,521 miles (around 10,500km). The Cyclathon will be carried out over a 12 hour period (10am to 10pm) on 10 stationary bikes at the top of Grafton Street. We need teams of volunteers to cycle and accumulate the kilometers. Each cyclist will only be required to cycle for half an hour (more if they want!). At the end of each hour we will tally up the kilometers covered and hopefully by the end of the day we will have reached our target.
Stage Two of the Dublin to Vietnam cycle will be completed by Cycling Clubs in Ireland.
Stage Three, the final stage, will be completed by the children in the Foundation’s Sunshine Centre in Ho Chi Minh City in December.
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?
Can your organisation provide a team of volunteer cyclists on Saturday May 12, to help us fundraise? Each team of volunteer cyclists will be required to gain sponsorship through our donating platform idonate.ie and the funds will be going directly to the Medical Centre in Ho Chi Minh City.
If you could give us just 4 people that would be great, but if you could give us 10 or 20 or more...even better! Once we know how many people we have, we will give you a timeslot for your team for the day.

It would be great if other individuals/groups in Orwell could set up an I dontate page for one of the Sportifs they ride in the upcoming months e.g. Wicklow 100/200. All mileage completed by each individual can to added to the mileage completed on the day of the cyclothon. The aim is to complete the mileage from Dublin - Vietnam (10,500Km).
