Every racing cyclist invests a lot of time into their training and a lot of money into expensive bikes but if you don't have the right mindset come race day it will all be a complete waste and you won't perform to the best of your abilities.
Cycling can be a stressful sport and simple techniques both on and off the bike can really help deal with these. If you have ever shown up to a race a looked at somebody on the start line and thought - "Wow - they look amazing, i'm never going to be able to beat him/her" then you should be going to this. Why? Because you have already been beaten!
Well done to Ann for organizing this.

Mental Preparation for Race Day
As endurance racers, we are always looking for that extra edge in training to
make us faster and more consistent. Understandably, most of our efforts to
improve are geared towards the physical – lowering lactate threshold, increasing muscle power and improving aerodynamics.
Enhancement to any of these physiological and biomechanical systems is going to result in faster race speeds and should be the main focus of your training plan.
However, almost any coach in the world would agree that the mental aspect of racing is also critical to competing at your best. In fact, many athletes would agree that you can be at the peak of your physical condition but if you don’t go in to a race mentally prepared then you will not perform at your best. So, the question is, how can you prepare for the mental and emotional rigors of race day? What can you do before and during your race to be completely focused, confident and in control?
These questions and more are answered in this 2 hour course on mental
preparation for racing.
Course Objectives
On this course participants will find out:
• How top performers prepare for races
• The five things you must do to be in the best mental shape to compete
• How to plan your race day
• The foods to eat to boost mental alertness
• What is the best pre-race routine?
• How and when to use visualisation to boost race performance
The talk costs 10 euro per person including course notes.

Cycling is easy all you have to do is beat everyone else and their belief in winning.
