Mountain Biking Trip to Rostrevor was created by Ann Horan
There is a mountain biking trip planned for club members to Rostrevor on Saturday January 9th. Mountain bikes are available to rent locally and Rostrevor is less than 90 minutes from Dublin.Get booking!! It's going to be epic!

Mourne Bikes offer a discount of 10% on rentals of 5 or more bikes.

I'll need to get one anyway, but if anyone else is interested might be worth replying here.

Full day price: £20
Discounted group price: £18 (at current rates that makes the day hire €25)

Whoop! booked in for this now.
Currently in the market for an MTB so depending what I decide on (DH or XC), I may require a rental bike too. I'll let you know once I do.

There are some people who are not keen on going mountain biking as they are not experienced enough but would like to come along for the craic. There will be a road spin leaving from the Whistledown hotel on Saturday morning if people fancy doing that instead. There are still 16 rooms available to book in the hotel so get your place ASAP.

These rooms are being released to the general public at the end of the week so if you want to be guaranteed of getting a room you'll need to book this week.
There will be a road spin that weekend also if you don't fancy doing the mountain biking.

For those staying over in Warrenpoint, the National Cyclocross Championships are on just up the road in Tollymore Forest Park, Newcastle on the Sunday.

There are 8 Orwell due to race and I know everyone would appreciate as much support as we can get! In fact in the Women's race we have the best chance of a medal in years with with Breda Horan.

If anyone going on this trip is looking to purchase a mountain bike I have one for sale. Its a Canyon XC frame (Large, I'm 5'11") from late 2011 with full suspension (120mm front and rear all FOX) with custom built wheels. It has Shimano Deore brakes and cassette and Shimano Zee crankset, bb, rear cluth mech and shifter (all of these shimano components were new in October). Its a 1x10 drivetrain so there a second cassette and chainring included to get a good gear ratio. The asking price is €1200. Don't have a picture on hand to upload. If interested you can email me at

It doesn't look like we have enough people to avail of the offer. My advice would be to contact the shop directly and book one at the standard rate. It wasn't a huge discount anyway.

I'm looking doubtful for this one myself.

I hear that the roll-out time is 10:00 - is this correct? I guess that means being there at 9:30-9:40 to get bike organised etc.
