Hey folks,
For those that are planning on doing the Marmotte this year, it appears that the route is being changed due to road works.

Think it was only announced yesterday so the new route has yet to be published. Might be worth watching the official site for updates.

Thanks
John

From a quick look at the French websites, it seems that the Tunnel du Chambon, the long tunnel just above the dam on the descent to Bourg d'Oisans is to be closed for repair.

Will make for an interesting re-route!

They could change to this route with Alpe added on.

Did it as a pre-Marmotte training ride a few years ago. Lovely route too. About 3,600m climbing without the Alpe so distance & climbing would be about right with the Alp.

My guess is something similar. Wouldn't be surprised to see La Toussuire in it too.

Whatever way it unravels, it'll be a hard day in the saddle!

Do not like that Tunnel!
For anyone looking to do a nice training spin in the area, would highly recommend the Venosc valley. As you start to climb from Bourg in the direction of le lac du Chambon, turn right up the D530 to Venosc. You can go all the way to La Berarde at the valley's end (if Carlsberg did cafe stops .....), road is quiet, scenery excellent, and a couple of steep sections to test the legs. Note that it's a dead end, so you are coming back from where you came. Unless rider and bike climbs aboard the telecabine in Venosc, brings you up to Les Deux Alpes and either the main road descent to Le Lac du Chambon., or a (left) turn off alternative (signposted 'Les Travers' or 'Bons'), forested road high above the valley, cuts out some of the main road. Choices, choices! Bonne route
