Leisure @ The Track - Friday April 17th 18:30 was created by Stephen Ryan
Ever wondered what it is like to ride a bike with no brakes ?
Ever wondered what it is like to ride a bike with no freewheel - meaning your legs keep turning. Always.
Ever wondered what it is like to ride a bike on a velodrome ?
Well wonder no more as your chance has come. On Friday April 17th at 18:30 , world champion Orla Hendron and yogatiste par excellence Dave Hendron will host a taster session on the track at Sundrive in Crumlin www.facebook.com/pages/Sundrive-Velodrome/301102636654433 exclusively for Orwell members .
During the evening you will learn how to
1. stop and start on the track with no brakes or freewheel.
2. move up and down on the track with no brakes or freewheel
3. ride safely in a group with no brakes or freewheel.
The nitty gritty:
Bikes will be provided on the night - and the Leisure budget will pick up the cost of hire
This is not full accreditation just a taster session.
The pedals are LOOK KEO or runners and straps
We need to know numbers and space is limited so please sign up using the doodle poll below

An unfortunate note from last night's meeting if you're heading to Sundrive Road. Bring as few valuables as possible - there have been a number of break-ins to cars at the venue, not to mention bikes being stolen.
If driving, leave absolutely nothing in your car - not even a jumper. If cycling, check with organisers if there's enough room for your bike, there's not a lot of space in the clubhouse.

I'll be cycling but I've never been there before. Is there somewhere I can lock the bike up near the track? Even to fence posts?

You can cycle down and either leave your bike in the club house or just leave it on the grass inside the grounds of the track while the session is on.

This session is full .
For those who are signed up please note the following practical matters -
Read Brian Mc's note above
Please aim to arrive from 6 onwards so you can be on the track ready to go at 6.30 . It will take a few minutes per person to match people up with bikes and to get ready.
The building where the bikes are is the one that looks like a pavilion about 50 metres away from the track. go in through the gates and walk around the back of it.
In advance please e-mail Dave Hendron at
Part of the message is hidden for the guests. Please log in or register to see it.
with your bike size.
Don't forget your helmet .

Great session on the Sundrive track last night.
I've never cycled for so long without a hill or pot hole. Amazing
A big thanks to Orla, Dave for organising and the Orwellians who helped make it a great night.
