great stuff Stephen great work, just wanted to ask about the audax stuff:
when the time comes, do we need to register differently to ride the Mick Byrne as audax? Is this to try to bring Orwell into the audax club ranking (which would be cool!)

Hi Eugene,

Yes , you are exactly right. We do want to make sure Orwell gets the points in the national Audaxing tables.

Last year a few people did the 200 without getting their Brevet stamped and so Orwell got no recognition for it.

You are still free to do the 100 or 160 (which don't qualify as an Audax) - and are among my favourite sporitves - and get 5 points in the Orwell competition. If you want the full 10 points you must do the 200 AND get the brevet stamped AND submitted . If you do the 200 and don't have the Brevet card , you'll incur the wrath of DaveMc and only get five points (maybe we should make it 1)

There are entry forms at www.audaxireland.org/calendar/gazetteer/...ents/mick-byrne-200/ but I'm not sure if it is officially open - the date is 2015 but the blurb is 2014.

Can somebody explain why the competition is only starting in April - given that the club are running events in March that would qualify - i.e the Orwell 200 Audax and so far there is a large number of people showing interest in it.

*This isn't an official answer, so Stephen may well chip in with his own reply when he gets the chance:

The reason given last year was that the Winter spin roster runs until the end of March, so it wasn't desirable to have the competition already up and running while some people were still spending their Sundays looking after beginners and the like. At the opposite end of the scale there are events in October and even November which could be counted, but it was preffered to have the season finished and prizegiving held before the next run of Winter spins started in early October.

At this stage it's something you could suggest for next year's edition, but the above answer might well still apply.

Dave's answer is 100% spot on. WinterSpins run October to March , This competition runs April to September.with no overlap on winterpsins.
