Winter Spin Survey

In the next few minutes (Sunday 9th March) every paid up member of the club will begin receiving a survey asking for their views on the structure , organisation etc of the soon to be completed Winterspins. We are looking for your views while the spins are still fresh in your minds and over the summer we will incorporate the feedback in our planning for the 14/15 Spins.

It may also mean you haven't paid your sub! And for the avoidance of doubt - and to make sure Paraic doesn't beat me up, getting the survey is not proof that you are current.

We receive a lot of feedback during the season and act on it where we can, but by definition our responses are re-active and it can be difficult to change things mid-season . With this survey we can be proactive as well.

Even if you didn't get out at all , there is a little section for you and we welcome your input.

If you did get out, maybe just once, maybe all twenty times or more likely something in between we do want to hear from you. The more people that respond the more confident we can be that we are meeting the needs of our fellow members , in this very important aspect of the club season.

The survey is well on its way - and so far more people have taken it than have read this thread.

We have checked all e-mails that bounced back to us, fixed them and re-sent.

There are some e-mail addresses that although incorrect do not bounce back . And some spam filters have blocked it as well.

The survey closed last night and we will begin to analyse the substance of the responses.

To start though & for the statto's out there.

We had a slightly greater than 50% response rate out of the e-mails that went out , which is well within acceptable response rates for a survey of that size within a club or association environment.

166 responses were received

54.32% were from members of 0- 2 years
32.72% from 2-5 years and
12.96% were > 5 years
reflecting in part I think the growth in membership over the last few years.

84.86% of us who responded cycle more than once a week .

Cyclists who responded went on a collective 1,203 Sunday spins of which
320 were in White
314 in Yellow
461 in Orange and
108 in Red

I scanned the comments provided in answer to some questions and was almost overwhelmed by the thought and effort that some people put in their responses. While the overall view is broadly positive for the spins there are definite identifiable areas for improvements and some excellent suggestions as to how to do it.

There are some Leaders out there whose ears should be burning as they received some great compliments and we will find the best way to share those with you so that you know your efforts are appreciated by those who cycled with you.
