Returning home from an orange spin on Sunday covererd in mud I re-read the Etiquette and Technique page and yep there it was "Use mudguards in winter as a courtesy to other riders."

Having recently forked out €50 on a set of race blades (with a voucher for another shop Dave, I swear) my question as a newbie is whether or not the instruction or guidance is supposed to be taken seriously?

As a mud splattered rider lurking at the back on most Sundays, I vote a solid yes to that. There's been some grumbling among a few of us in recent weeks that a growing number of riders have no rear mudguards. And the shortened type that just protect the rider's own back don't count. You know who you are Ciara.
