Joe Daly was created by Declan Quigley
Condolences to all the Tansey family on Joe's passing. He was a legendary figure in the Dublin business community. Not only did he play an important role in the development of generations of club cyclists but countless Dubliners can thank Joe for providing their first bike. I was in the shop before Christmas and Joe was there, as he had been for so many years, directing toddler traffic around the displays. A little bit of old Dublin has been lost...

Sad news. He seemed like a permanent fixture, part of the fabric of Dundrum. Even before I got involved in cycling I knew that Joe was a Very Important Person around the village. The last time I saw him was at the cancelled Christmas race in Brittas, and I was looking out through Rudolf's eyes...

My last memory of Joe was when he helped me (along with Paul) after hitting the ice in Blessington just before the (cancelled)Christmas race a few short weeks ago. A true gentleman, ar dheis De a raibh a anam.

The Removal will take place tomorrow(Wednesday) evening, arriving at Holy cross church in Dundrum at 17:30.

The Funeral will take place after 11:00 mass Thursday morning to Shanganagh cemetery.
May he rest in peace.
