Star road racer Michelle Geoghegan celebrated her call up to the Irish team for the forthcoming Tour de L'Ardeche by clinching the Zoo Hair Salon and Louis Garneau National Women's League title in the final event at Enfield on Sunday 30th August.
Geoghegan finished eighth as Orwell club mate Orla Hendron finished a fine second in the 10 mile Time Trial hosted by the IVCA, the latter securing sixth in the final league standings in the process.
Competing in just her first full season, Geoghegan has led the points standings in the seven event National League for much of the year and went into the final 10 mile time trial hosted by the IVCA knowing that a solid points finish ought to be enough to hold off the challenge of nearest rival Wendy Bates (Lakeland Wheelers).
On a blustery day Geoghegan finished with eighth fastest time to secure the title with a six point margin.
Geoghegan now heads to France to take part in the UCI 2.2 ranked Tour de l'Ardeche stage race from September 8th to 12th.
