Pinergy-Orwell Wheelers were once again the prizes during a busy weekend of racing. On Saturday, at the Boyne GP in Meath, Cesar Lopes continued his rapid charge up the ranks, netting an excellent third place at the Boyne GP.  Race winner Toby Sweetman crossed the line with a small gap to the bunch. Lopes positioned himself very well for the finish, sprinting to take third place. Having progressed rapidly from A4 to A3 last year, the promotion hasn't halted his run of results.

Patrick O'Sullivan on the podium at the Des Hanlon Memorial

On Sunday the action shifted to Carlow and Des Hanlon Memorial, the first round of the National Series. An epic day of racing in tough conditions saw the final selection being made on only the last hill of the day. Orwell's Juniors were in the thick of the action, with Patrick O'Sullivan taking third place in the Junior classification and Killian O'Brien hot on his heals in fourth.

In the A4 race, Sean O'Kane was desperately unlucky to miss out on a podium. In a break of two with a clear gap to the chasers, O'Kane crashed on the final corner of the race, denying him the chance to net at least a second place.
