There's something special about a hillclimb time trial: if you've never blasted up a steep hill as fast as you possibly can, trying to steal miliseconds as you push the pedals against an big incline, then you can't really understand the pain involved!

The Leinster Hillclimb Championships was on Thursday 18 August in Jenkinstown, Co Louth, and took place on Jenkinstown Hill (1.7km @ 8%). It was a beautiful sunny evening, but that didn't make the climbing any easier!

About 45 riders, across a full range of categories, turned up to try their hand, and it was a fantastic evening for Orwell. Davis Quinn got a huge confidence boost from a win (by 2 seconds!) in the Under 14 Category. Also newly-crowned Leinster Champion is Killian O'Brien in Under 16 (eight fastest across all categories on the night), with Luca Holmes in second place. The fastest woman on the night was Yvonne Doran from Orwell Wheelers, so a fantastic night for the club all around.
