Mark Dunne good in Batterstown!

Batterstown, Co. Meath, 25 June 2009

Putting a run of indifferent form behind him as well as a number of personal upheavals that have put cycling into true perspective, Mark Dunne edged a fine battle with Robbie Lawless to take the honours in the Club 10 mile Time Trial Championships at Batterstown on Thursday evening.

On a balmy evening, Dunne rocketed around Meath's most challenging '10' course, pipping fellow ace tester Lawless to the gold medal by 13 seconds with John Dillon third fastest Orwell rider, a further seven seconds in arrears.

Brian Ahern was fourth Orwell setting sixth overall time in the 12th round of the Inter-Club League with Myles Kirby fifth Orwell in eighth overall. Gary McNulty's 24.10 made it six Orwells in the top nine on the night.

The next event in the League is the Club Road Race Championships on a testing course round the lakes near Blessington next Thursday. Sign on at Brittas as normal.
