Scott Orwell Wheelers are delighted to have 2 teams in this weekend's Spar Tour of Omagh. This event is one of the few with stage racing for A4 and a completely separate race for women. The event is also special in that it offers the same prize money for the men's and women's races!

Stage 1: Friday, 17:30 start, 43 miles with 3 KOH
Stage 2: Saturday, 09:00 start, 2.5 mile individual time trial
Stage 3: Saturday, 14:00 start, 46 miles with 2 KOH
Stage 4: Sunday, 11:00 start, 44 miles with 3 KOH

Sunday 29th July:
There is nothing in the racing calander for Saturday the 28th but Sunday the 29th has a few options. For those who like the challenge of a TT race the Ulster 10 mile champs are on and being run by Ballymena CC - http://www.ballymenaroadclub.co.uk/content/?id=76&l1id=45

Closer to home Drogheda Wheelers are running the 22nd edition of the annual Brendan Campbell Memorial race. Sign on will be open from 10:15 am at Scoil Naomh Mhuire, Donore Village, County Meath. (3 mins from exit 9 from M1).

Racing for senior and underage riders is scheduled as follows:

11:45 U12 1 LAP

11:45 U14 2 LAPS

12:15 U16 RACE 4 LAPS

12:15 A4 RACE 8 LAPS

2:00 A+, A1, A2, A3, Junior 13 LAPS

Sign on and off road parking at the school grounds. No on circuit parking allowed.

Category prizes will be awarded for all categories.

All races will take place on the usual 6.4km circuit.

Lots of Leisure Sportive options this weekend! On Saturday you can choose from the Skoda Ring of Clare, the Ring of the Reeks in Munster, Audax Ireland are running the Killylough CC Charity Cycle among other events.

The final element of the 2018 Women’s Beginners Course takes place this Sunday with the Meath Heritage Cycle Tour.  This is always a very well attended and run event. YOUTHS:

Upcoming events for the end of July and August

Sunday 29th: Spin from Joe Dalys @ 10:00 – led by Ivan . Note there were will be no spins after this until the last of the season on August 26th

Saturday 4th to Monday 6th of August: Errigal International Youth Tour. We have 8 riders signed up. Katie and Annie riding for Ireland in the Girls u14, Ronan for Leinster in the Boys U16 and wearing the Orwell colours Aine in the girls U12 , Conor in the boys U16 and a very strong team in the U12 boys of Killian, Luca and Ryan. Best of luck to all of them , it is a great event to take part in and while very challenging – Keelogues! – is very rewarding for those who participate. Ivan will have the club van and if there are any late comers who need a lift please contact him directly to see if he has space.

Sunday 12th August: Leinster Road Race Championships in Kilmessan – We hope to see all of our open racers there for the premier title in Leinster cycling.

TRACK:

A quiet spell on the track at the moment but both men and women's teams have been working hard doing Team Pursuit training.  We will be entering our teams in the coming week for competition day on 11th August.

There is an accreditation next Saturday the 4th of August. This will be the 2nd last before Orwell track champs so if you are thinking of giving the Champs a go this would be the perfect chance to get some practice in and get accreditated!

 

SOCIAL:

It is still a couple of weeks away but tickets are selling fast so don't miss out on the chance to go to the Family BBQ. This year the venue moves to the Radisson Blu St Helen's Hotel on the Stillorgan Rd. There is a special ticket price for families, loads of entertainment and the food looks amazing!
