A date for your social diaries. On Tuesday evening May 15th Orwell Wheelers are holding a BBQ at The Blue Light pub (Barnacullia Road, Sandyford, Dublin 18)
The BBQ coincides with the final night of the Orwell Ladies Crit League and will also double as a fund raiser for the Orwell Ras Team. Just days later some of Orwell’s most experienced & talented men set off to cover 1,168kms, over 8 stages, with 28 categorised climbs, three of which are Cat 1 – impressive stuff so please come and show your support.
As the Ras Team will be in attendance on the night, suggestions as to how they might add to our entertainment value are welcome…..they have all (sort of) agreed to take part in any activity which we deem suitable/necessary/boarder line public humiliation.
• BBQ starts 8pm
• Admission: €10 for Adults and €5 for Children
• Raffle/Prizes on the night

This might sound easier than it is: (1) the bike is 2 foot high (if even), (2) we are not sure if it has the ability to turn/steer so it may end up being more a TT/cyclocross event, (3) parked cars and other random road furniture may have to be incorporated into the TT course (see point 2)

It's promising to be a cracker of an evening out, and the prize list that has been put together for the raffle is fairly impressive. The racing will start in Sandyford from 19:00, Barbecue in the Blue Light from 20:00.
All are welcome, if you can't make it along for the whole evening feel free to drop in for any part of it.

Thanks to all involved with organising the night for your time and effort, and also to those who donated some great prizes. Your generosity is much appreciated by the whole team.
Also thanks to everyone who came out and made it a fantastic evening.

Anyone who can ride a Dublin Bike up the climb to the Blue Light (touching 17% in places) has got to be in awesome form. I vote that Patrick Santini should be immediately included on the Orwell Rás team.
And I've been instructed by my Other Half to tell Anne that her throw away reference to Ferris Bueller during the raffle draw was masterly and highly appreciated.

Hear, hear etc. Although I thought some dill and cornichons would have lifted the potato salad from the merely exquisite to the sublime.
Thought strikes me - it would be a very Orwell coup to get a celebrity chef to endorse your musettes during the Ras.
Rachel Allen springs to mind. Not sure why.
