Overview:

Pinergy Orwell Wheelers will host their annual Cyclocross Race at McCrystal's CX Track on Saturday 4th of November 2023. It is round 4 of the Leinster League of Cyclocross. Generously sponsored by Joe Daly Cycles, Footprints Early Years Preschool, All-American Laundrette and Bike Fitting Ireland.

 

Location:

The race will be held at McCrystal CycloCross Track, Jenkinstown, Co. Louth, A91 KD6.

 

Entry:

Competitors will require a Cycling Ireland licence. One-day licences available via EventMaster event.

Parents need to acquire a Youth Licence for each child competing from U6 upwards via the Cycling Ireland website before signing up for these races, the cost of which is €10.

As the event is occurring after November 1st, any license (except the 12 month Leisure license) purchased on or after November 1st will be valid until the end of 2024.

Adult Entry: €20 pp
U23, Junior: €15 pp
U14, U16: €10 pp
Underage: Free*.

*There is allocation for 5 Under 6s, 15 Under 8s, 15 Under 10s, and 15 Under 12s. Pricing thereafter is €1 per Under 6 and €5 per Under 12.

Entry from U6 to U12 is generously covered by Joe Daly Cycles, Dundrum.

There will be a €20 Off a Bike Fit Voucher for Bike Fitting Ireland/Aidan Hammond at Sign-On for all competitors.

 

Safety:

Whilst the McCrystal's CycloCross Track is a private venue, there are two course crossing points that require the attention of attendees. The first course crossing point is from the Carpark to the Race Village. The second course crossing point is from the Pit Carpark to the Pit.
Race attendees to follow the directions of event marshals. A First Aid service will be on-site at the event.
Young children are to be supervised and kept off the course during races.
Please do not litter and please do bring home your recycling / rubbish.

 

Parking:

Race attendees must use the The McCrystal's CX Track designated parking area (free parking).

 

Course:

Strava Segment: McCrystal's CX 2022.

The race will be run on the standard 2.9km configuration of the McCrystal's CX Track.
Sign-On and collection of race numbers and timing chips will be located in the Race Village.
Pit Crews should bring their own water.

Facilities:

Port-a-loos will be located in front of The Barn.

Bike cleaning facilities are available behind The Barn.

On-Site Catering will be provided by The Last Lap Cafe, who will have Hot Food available. There is Petrol and Diesel available in the McCrystal's XL Shop, just off-site.

There are no showers onsite.

The Timing will be provided by the McCrystal's CX Track.

Race Schedule:

There will be a full schedule of races for both females and males of all ages as follows:

09:00 Sign-On Opens.

09:00 – 09:50 Full Course Practice (50 mins).

 

Under 12 Racing

09:50 Call up U12s Boys & Girls.
09:55 – 10:10 U12s Race (15 mins max).

U12 Race on Shortened Course. Rest of Course available for practice.

U12 Prizegiving will take place immediately after race.

 

10:10 – 10:30 Open course practice (20 mins).

 

Youth Male Racing

10:30 Call up U16 & U14 Boys.
10:35 – 11:05 U16 & U14 Boys Race (30 mins max).

U16 and U14 grids will be physically distanced by a few meters. Both grids will start at the same whistle.

This start procedure will be known as “Physical Distance, One Whistle“.

U14 & U16 Prize Giving will take place immediately after the race.

 

11:05 – 11:30 Open Course practice (25 mins).

 

Women and Youth Female Racing

11:30 Call up Women, U16 Girls, U14 Girls.
11:35 – 12:20 Women’s Race (Close to 45 mins).
11:35 – 12:05 U16 & U14 Girls Race (30 mins max).

Women, U16 and U14 grids will be physically distanced by a few meters. All three grids will start at the same whistle, the “Physical Distance, One Whistle” start procedure.

Women, U14 and U16 Prize Giving will take place immediately after the Women's race.

 

12:20 – 12:55 Open Course practice (35 mins).

 

Underage Racing

12:20 Underage Fun Races (U6, U8 and U10).
U6: 2 minutes.
U8: 5 minutes, or 10 minutes max.
U10: 10 minutes.

Underage race on a shortened course, rest of course will be available for practice.

 

A-Race 

12:55 Call up A-Race.
13:00 – 13:50 A-Race (Close to 50 mins).

A-Race Prize Giving will take place immediately after the race.

 

13:50 – 14:10 Open Course practice (20 mins).

 

B-Race

14:10 Call up B-Race.
14:15 – 15:00 B-Race (Close to 45 mins).

B-Race Prize Giving will take place immediately after the race.

Underage

All competitors in the underage races (U6 – U12) will receive a prize.

The Entry Fee for the Underage Racing is kindly covered by Joe Daly Cycles, Dundrum, Dublin 16.

Unplaced: Junior, U23, M40 and Orwell Rider.

A pre-race analysis of both Leinster and Ulster standings, showed that there weren't any M60 riders. So we decided to swap that prize to a Unplaced U23 prize.

Update 3rd November: The entry list showed no M50s in the Women's race, so we swapped the prize to a Unplaced Orwell Prize.
